President Message for January 2023

Dear Sooner Model A Club,

We hope all your Holidays were good. We had a very busy November and December. Thank you to all of our members who participated in the various activities. Some of the notable events were:

At the November Club meeting Sheryl Hoyle gave a wonderful presentation and a trip down memory lane about the houses in 1928 – 1931 and the ‘modern’ conveniences of the “ICE BOX.” Sheryl also explained how you could order a house from Sears or Montgomery Ward and build it yourself. Everything was precut and all the directions were included. There were many homes sold that way.

Then Phil Wolfenbarger scheduled our show of cars for the ‘End Of Prohibition” at Bubba’s restaurant. Bubba’s provided free lunches and dinners to all participants. We had a great turn out and wonderful food.

The Blanchard Veteran’s Day Parade on November 12th had seven cars and we were #3 in the lineup. We have never been that close to the front of any parade. The Stockyard parade on December 3rd was a cold day but we had a very good turnout of seven cars.

Thank you to Sheryl Hoyle and Kaye Sage for arranging the Club’s Christmas Party. A great time was had by all and I heard good comments about using the round tables. It was truly ideal for visiting and eating Earl’s smoked turkey, sliced brisket and pulled pork with all of the trimmings. Where can you go today for some great food and a good time for only $5.00? Chuck Dusenbery did a great job of restoring the original Sooner Model A Charter and wooden frame, which was displayed at our Christmas party.

Just a reminder that the club dues are $20 and due by 31 January 2023. If you have not paid your dues by then your name will be removed from the list because it is time to make a new directory.

The board is planning the 2023 activities and will welcome any new ideas or suggestions for club activities. We have planned a trip to the ‘CHICKEN SHACK’ at 11:30 on Saturday the 21st, at 212 East Highway 66, Arcadia. This is about one block beyond the Round Barn on Rt 66. We hope to have more lunch/dinners get togethers.
