President Message June 2023

Summer is here. We started off by enjoying a very nice picnic at Ripper Park. Of course, there was plenty of food. Thank you, Phil and Kaye, for setting it up, and thanks to Chuck for working the grill. The tour to Coffeyville, hosted by Tulsa Club, was outstanding. The town sure liked to display the dead bank robbers for all to see before they were buried. As usual, there was someone, like Mitchell, who had car problems, like running out of gas miles from anywhere. But thanks to everyone, we all got home safely.

At our May meeting we had a presentation by Anna Covey from VIP care on preventive care for seniors. Anna provided the refreshments and answered many questions people had. In June, we are planning to go to Robbers Cave State Park for an antique Tractor and Car show on Saturday, the 24th of June. Also, there is the Midwest Regional Meet on June 11 to 16 at Breckenridge, CO. In July, there will be two July 4th parades again this year. We will be able to participate in both parades this year because the Bethany Parade will be on Saturday, the 1st of July, and the Edmond Parade will be on Tuesday the 4th of July.

Since the 4th of July is a holiday, we have moved the Board meeting to the 2nd Tuesday of July, the 11th. We have planned an exciting tour of Oklahoma City and Guthrie for the 2023 Fall Tour. With the Fall Tour so close to home, everyone in the Sooner Club should be able to attend. It is always enjoyable and interesting to visit with everyone at the meeting hotel. Our annual Club Christmas party will be at 2pm on Sunday, the 10th of December at the Will Rogers Garden Center. Mark your calendar for a good time for all to start your holiday celebrations. As always, a great club has active participation of all its members. We want to include everyone and hope to see many of you at the various activities.

Don Mitchell, President
