President’s Message November 2023
GREETINGS TO ALL Model A’ers,
We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving as well as a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Since there will be NO December Scuttlebutt or meeting, I want to thank the Board members and everyone who helped make this past year a very good year for our Sooner Model A Club.
At our October Club meeting, we had the drawing for the 6-volt battery donated by Paul McNutt and it was won by Steve Davis. Also, at the meeting, Steve Davis donated two tickets for the Oklahoma City Polar Express train ride on Friday, 10 November. The tickets were auctioned off and eventually won by Jim and Gayle Keene. Thank you to everyone for making these events beneficial to the club.
Vice-President Phil Wolfenbarger had his 3-D printing machine working overtime and has created some very nice Model A car name tags with your First name on it which is large enough to see. These are for sale at $5.00 each, of which Phil is donating all the proceeds to the club. This is a great bargain for these very nice name tags. The sign-up sheet for the name tags will be at the regular club meetings.
The October Club meeting had the very informative and entertaining movie, “Stop On a Dime.” It told you everything you would want to know about brakes, and more. Thank you, Vonnie Meritt, for providing it and thanks to Ken Corder and Phil Wolfenbarger for setting up and running the show.
In December, we have the Stockyards Christmas Parade on Saturday, 2 December with line-up at 9 AM. On Thursday, the 7th of December, we show our Model A cars at Bubba’s restaurant from 11:30 to 2:30. A free lunch is included at Bubba’s. The Christmas Party is Sunday, the 10th of December, at 2 PM at the Will Rogers Garden Center. Earl’s will cater the dinner again and we will play Dirty Santa. If you want to play Dirty Santa, bring a wrapped gift costing no more than $20.00, and people can pick any wrapped gift they want or take one from someone else. The cost is $25.00 per person for the Christmas party. We need to have the final payment and count by the November 28th Club meeting. So, bring your checkbook to the November Club meeting to pay for your 2024 dues and the Christmas party.
DON’T FORGET THE JANUARY CLUB MEETING IS SUNDAY, 21 2024 AT 2 PM.
