President’s Message May 2025

Dear Sooner Model A Club members,

We had a clear day for the scenic drive to the Corners of My Mind car collection in Weatherford.  There were lots of cars to see there, and many western paintings and statues and other memorabilia.

22 Model A’s went to Ponca City for the joint Spring Tour with the Tulsa Club.  We toured Marland Mansion, Conoco Museum, Pioneer Woman, Standing Bear Museum, the Poncan Theatre and lots of other historic places.  The Model A’s were on display at the Stuteville Ford Dealer and there were quite a few people who stopped by in the rain to see them.

Eight Model A’s were in the 89er Day parade in Guthrie on April 19th.  We thought there was going to be a lot of rain, and it sprinkled a little before the parade, but when the parade began, the sun came out and dried up the rain.  Lunch at Simone’s Café afterwards was wonderful, as usual.  The Simone’s staff was very attentive and even took a picture for us.

The Armed Forces Day parade is on May 17th in Del City.  There was an airplane fly-by at the beginning of the parade last year, and we are hoping to see them again.  The Club Meeting is on the following day, May 18th, at the Will Rogers Garden Center.

On June 7th, Don Sable has invited us to his shop, along with other car clubs, for a picnic and a meeting of the car clubs.  All food will be provided by Don.  The other car clubs include the Model T Club, the Studebaker Club, the Early V-8 Club, the Triumph Club, the MG Club, and there may be other car clubs not named here.  This is an opportunity to see lots of other types of cars and to visit with some of the other car club members.

We hope to see you soon, at one or more of these activities or somewhere along the Model A road.

Phil Wolfenbarger, President
