President’s Message January 2024

Happy New Year Thank you everyone for your participation and support in another successful year. We look forward to 2024 and plan to have a number of parades, tours and visits to senior centers in Oklahoma. Hope everyone can participate in showing off their cars and, of course, visiting and having some great food. We would love to see all of you at the meetings and events. If you have any suggestions for our meetings, tours, parades, etc, please let the Board know.

Our bank account received some nice increases from the efforts of several members. Our thanks go to Phil Wolfenbarger, who donated his time, money and work in making our new name badges; Paul McNutt, who donated a battery that was raffled off; Steve Davis, who donated the Polar Express Train tickets that were auctioned off. These three, plus all the efforts by our members let us keep our dues the same, at $20.00 per year. With that said, the 2024 dues are due now if you have not yet paid them.

I would like to personally thank all of you for the help in setting up and taking down the tables and chairs for the meetings, plus providing food and drinks for the meetings. I have tried to find the words to let you know how much I appreciate you, but mere words are inadequate. Some come in early and some stay late, and some do extra tasks, but all are helpful.

December was a great time for getting together. For the Christmas Stockyards Parade, we had 8 cars and a great meal at Bunny’s Onion Burger afterwards. Then we had another 8 cars and 15 people at Bubba’s, and they provided us with a great lunch. Then, we wrapped up the year with 41 people registered at the Christmas party. I think everyone enjoyed the food from Earl’s BBQ and had fun playing Dirty Santa.

For the past two years, Jerry Phillips as Treasurer and Greg Hoyle as Director, did outstanding jobs and I want to thank them personally for the support and work they did for our club. We want to welcome our new Treasurer, Kay Lee Meritt, and our new Director, Joe Astafan. I know they will do a great job.

Finally I want to thank the talented members of our club who are very generous about sharing their knowledge, time and expertise in helping the novice Model A’ers. This, I think, is a huge reason this club has been around for over 55 years, going into our 57th year.

Don Mitchell, 2024 President
